Rancher Deployment for Kubernetes Management on Bare Metal Cloud

One-click deployment of highly available, production-grade K8s environment

Rancher Deployment

Deploying Kubernetes in Production Environments

Adopting containers is key to modernizing your IT as it allows you to build high-quality, portable applications faster. However, setting up a production-ready Kubernetes environment from scratch can require months of repetitive work. Furthermore, manually scaling and managing your container clusters across different environments, locations, and teams brings numerous complexities to your Day 1 and Day 2 operations.

By integrating SUSE Rancher into our Bare Metal Cloud (BMC) platform, phoenixNAP lets you deploy server instances with multi-node Kubernetes management and workload clusters at scale in minutes. In a couple of clicks or a single POST request, BMC lets you deploy production-grade clusters from the core to the edge, with centralized authentication, control, and observability of your deployments.

Bare Metal Cloud and Rancher Integration

Bare Metal Cloud instances with SUSE Rancher are designed to save you hours of development work as there’s no need to struggle with dozens of different tools to manually build your container services platform. With the help of one of the most popular orchestration platforms, BMC lets you automate the deployment of high availability upstream and downstream clusters.

Through phoenixNAP’s BMC portal, API or CLI, developers can easily deploy pre-configured servers on multiple global locations and adjust their cluster and node settings in the process. By leveraging the cloud-native architecture, developers can define, deploy, and manage their infrastructure directly from their K8s clusters. The lack of virtualization overhead coupled with the flexibility of cloud-like deployment provides the improved stability your production workloads require.

Scale with Confidence

Deploying Rancher on Bare Metal Cloud

Deploying 3-node Kubernetes workload cluster alongside HA management cluster on phoenixNAP’s Bare Metal Cloud can be done in under 5 minutes.
All you need to do is:

Create a BMC account and log into the BMC portal
Choose pre-configured node instances
Select your management/workload cluster location
Add previously generated SSH keys to your nodes
Name your clusters and add nodes to them
Deploy your enterprise K8s environment with the click of a button

You can further configure your cluster through advanced SUSE Rancher settings. This allows you to set access tokens, add certificates, set TLS settings and node taints, add an additional hostname, or schedule backup snapshots.

Why Run Kubernetes on Bare Metal

Running your containerized apps and workloads on bare metal helps you lower your IT costs while gaining access to dedicated, secure resources with no hypervisor overhead. At a fraction of the cost of a public cloud solution, Bare Metal Cloud gives you full access to the underlying hardware powering your nodes, increasing your workload performance, and enhancing data security. Your instances can be managed and scaled directly from kubectl, letting you maintain consistent performance for your containerized apps and services from within the K8s environment.
