How It Works
Deploy a Centralized Storage
Pool
Network File Storage leverages protocols that allow file sharing over a specified network. Unlike Direct Attached Storage (DAS), it lets you extend your storage capacity without having to add hardware to your server and experience the ensuing disruptions.
Once you deploy and configure your NFS in Bare Metal Cloud, any server on the same network can seamlessly access the shared storage. This centralizes your data resources and gives you the flexibility to serve workloads from multiple network points.
You can automatically attach Network File Storage to any of your Bare Metal Cloud instances deployed at the same location. All you need to do is create your Network File Storage volume or capacity reservation and add it to your existing servers. With no hidden costs, you gain greater control over your deployments, adapting your infrastructure to better fit your storage and budget needs.
Features
phoenixNAP Network File Storage Features
Network File Storage (NFS) is a distributed file system that lets you easily add more storage capacity on demand and ensure consistent performance for latency-sensitive and high-throughput workloads.
Unlike Storage Area Network (SAN), NFS needs less administration and can scale faster. It is also less complex to maintain, more affordable, and better suited to small business workloads, although it also has wide applications at the enterprise level. Within phoenixNAP’s Bare Metal Cloud, NFS is an out-of-the-box storage system that lets you scale storage capacity easily and cost-effectively across different locations.
Key NFS Features
phoenixNAP’s Network File Storage (NFS) is designed to provide access to a low-cost storage solution for any application or a group of servers that need continual access to quickly scalable storage. It provides a shared storage pool for distributed teams and heterogeneous environments, facilitating cooperation and reducing system admin overhead.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Network File Storage offers a flexible way to expand storage capacity on a network. Our Network File Storage solution provides the performance of a general-purpose SSD on demand with long-term reservation capabilities for an affordable price, making it suitable for high-throughput and latency-sensitive workloads.
The total price of Network File Storage on Bare Metal Cloud is calculated based on the quantity and unit price. For example, 1TB storage used for 10 hours = 10 TB-hours (1TB x 10 hrs). 10TB-hours at a unit price of $0.12 per 1TB-hr = $1.20 (10 TB-hrs x $0.12). Reserved capacities are billed based on storage size and reservation length, with 1-, 12-, 24-, and 36-month options available. As for your Bare Metal Cloud servers, you can consume them on an hourly basis or deploy them with a 1-, 12-, 24-, or 36-month reservation to unlock special discounts.
You can deploy your Network File Storage in Phoenix, AZ, and Ashburn, VA (more locations coming soon) and use it as a storage pool with all server instances deployed at the same location.
All your Bare Metal Cloud instances come with low-latency NVMe drives. Apart from the Network File Storage option, you can easily leverage petabytes of S3-compatible Object Storage to cost-effectively store unstructured data.
