What Is NAS (Network Attached Storage)?

A network-attached storage (NAS) acts as a safe central storage hub for all your data. NAS units are attached to a network, thus they are always available, and they provide access to multiple users at the same time. A NAS has its own operating system allowing users to consolidate duplicate files on multiple PCs in one place, perform nightly-based image backups, access data from anywhere using a browser, facilitate file sharing, and much more. One of its main advantages is that NAS is highly scalable with no additional costs.
